Almonta Park Lodge, Coffin Bay, Port Lincoln Wedding, South Australia.

It was to be my penultimate wedding for this season. Teepees, the beautiful backdrop of Coffin Bay, gorgeous couple and a beautiful bridal party. Sarah and Matt are from Adelaide and had planned the perfect destination wedding for their friends and loved ones. Coffin Bay is famous for it’s oysters, and picturesque scenery. Port Lincoln is one of South Australia’s richest towns, thanks to it’s buoyant Tuna and fisheries industry and farming community.

The setting is Almonta Park Lodge, one of the most beautiful coastal reserves overlooking coffin bay. A luxury home that overlooks the amazing sand dunes to the east and coffin bay to the west. The centre piece was two teepes setup and wonderfully styled with greenery and string lights, and opened up at night to showcase the amazing southern sky at night.

Both highly driven and warm hearted individuals, Sarah and Matt had planned the perfect day, with the perfect group of people and the amazing community that had welcomed them with open arms.

And then one of the worst storms in recent history with 100km winds lashing across the town threatened to uproot the whole wedding. Winds and cloud threatened with rain, and the tent flaps were uprooted from the pegs. The weather was a downright shitty prick, and was threatening the meticulously planned celebration that these guys had organised. All within 24 hours of the wedding. The plane that we were on had one of the choppiest landing’s I’d experienced in a while and reports from the night before did not seem great.

Yet despite it all, the amazing community spirit of Matt and Sarah’s local family and friends shone through. With a herculean effort, the township rallied together and pretty much moved the wedding into the teepees, hours before the ceremony was due to start and rallied behind this beautiful couple. Despite what the weather was to say, their love and celebration of it was not to be dampened (literally as rain was falling sideways)

Through it all, and some patches of clear sky – I was witness to one of the most beautiful ceremonies of the season, overflowing with gratitude, happiness and love.
